Emil Castagnier, Plue, & DaisukexRiku (Chibi Fanart)

It’s a school day and writer’s block calls for fanart dump.

Bonus 4koma (Strip #1. Yes, there will be more). An inside joke between the lazy co-writer (Steven) and I.

Emil Castagnier (Tales of Symphonia -Knight of Ratatosk-)
Plue (Rave Master)
Daisuke/Riku (D•N•Angel) (version 2 has slight differences)

All done with a mouse on Manga Studio EX 4.0. No tablets (everything would look better with tablets :P). Lightly-colored for an extra innocent chibi effect. Enjoy.

High School of the Dead 07

Don't cry Alice T_T

The most enjoyable episode in this series so far. Yeah, that’s right. Maybe because this week’s episode was much more than an excuse to have the female characters grope each other. Ohoho. ;D

Alice putting that flower on her father’s dead corpse, in particular, pulled on my heartstrings. I guess I just have a soft spot for children who have loving parents that would protect them no matter what. >;

D•N•Angel Stage 4 Vol. 5-9

Yaoi fanservice for you

As I thought, mirror boy turned out to be a douche that’s trying to take Daisuke’s place in the real world. When Daisuke got sucked into the world of Insomnia, I figured it was either because Insomnia was lonely or he wanted to become the new Daisuke. His motive was pretty predictable, but other than that, these recent chapters were pretty interesting reads.

Shy Ryouko-chan

Ryouko reverts to her 13-year-old self after a hit in the head in the shallow pool.

As expected, Ryoushi enjoys his Ryouko dressed-up, shy, cute, and wet.

Overall, it was an entertaining episode. I enjoyed seeing Ryouko’s personality without the tsun in front of it. <3 I’m usually not fond of the generic amnesia episode, but seeing that side of Ryouko made things a lot better and easier to watch.

Shiki 05

RIP Tohru-chan

More plot-oriented shows should add an element of surprise to their shows and drop the episode previews altogether like Shiki. We all know by now that episode previews usually spoil the crap out of us.

Case in point: During last episode’s cliffhanger, I thought Tohru was going to die. At the start of this episode, it seemed like Shimizu attempting to feast on his blood was all a dream, which made me relieved (because Tohru is cool). And then, they went ahead and surprised me by having him die anyway. I like it when shows do that to me, and if Shiki had an episode preview, I would probably know for sure Tohru was going to die here.

I will become a Megane soon enough

My Meganekko waifuI just went to get my eyes examined. Turns out my vision is so shitty I’ll have to wear glasses everyday.

If only anime tropes applied to real life; that being the case, I would either choose to be the Spectacled Sadist or Stoic Spectacles within my group of friends (or even better, within the interwebz).

Interesting to note, most of my favorite anime characters that wear glasses don’t even friggin’ need them. Yuki Nagato loses her glasses midway through the original run of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I disagree with Kyon, she looked good with glasses). Jade Curtiss wears his glasses in order to suppress the awesome spell he casted onto his eyes in Tales of the Abyss. I don’t know why Satoshi Hiwatari/Hikari from D•N•Angel wears glasses, but he obviously doesn’t need them.

Glasses seem to either be a completely normal thing, fetish fuel, or a symbol of badassery in the world of anime, manga, and video games. Why can’t my life be like that?! Makes me feel better about my terrible vision. xD Instead of looking at it in a bad way, let’s look at the positives: I’m getting my glasses from a VERY pretty Asian lady in her early 20s (hurray for me being male estrogen brigade jailbait). btw, she smells nice.

Which type of glasses-wearing character do you prefer?

D•N•Angel Chapters 55-58

DNANGEL IS THE SHIT

Where have I been these past two days? I’ve been getting back into the D•N•Angel manga, along with a ton of other shoujo manga. I had to marathon a lot of D•N•Angel chapters, since it took one long ass hiatus and my memory of it is pretty iffy.

I forgot how much this manga got me high on kawaii, especially with the Daisuke x Riku pairing. <3 Very good shoujo manga. This definitely needs a new anime adaptation once Sugisaki is finished with the manga! =)

Cute Ryouko

This looks surprisingly cute. ;D

This week’s episode was much more interesting than the last ones; mostly because it focuses on the three characters I actually give a crap about in this show.

We get a look at how Ringo and Ryouko met, as well as Ryoushi solidifying his resolve to become a stronger man for Ryouko. Hm, Ringo and Ryouko reminisced about their middle school days while I was busy at my middle school reunion yesterday? How fitting.

Pro tip: We should know by now that this anime hardly resembles the fairytales it alludes to in its episode titles.

Pouty Ryouko

This is what she looks on the outside, the first pic is what she looks like on the inside.

Ryouko plays up the tsundere role pretty straight, but I like it. <3

NGE scene that doesn’t work out in *any* language

Soryu/Shikinami Langley Asuka

NGE fans are sure to remember this scene, especially if they watched the English or German dubs. Asuka speaking German and “Japanese” in three different language versions: Japanese, English, and German.

According to German fans, Yuko Miyamura’s German sounds terrible and incomprehensible. Given Asuka’s German descent and the fact that she was raised in Germany, it makes no sense for her German to sound so terrible.

The English dub is also pretty strange. While her German is much better compared to the Japanese version, Asuka says Shinji is thinking in Japanese and says they’re switching back to Japanese… while speaking in English. ADV couldn’t make her say “English” without bending Shinji’s nationality in some way, of course, which is understandable. Doing so would make Asuka fluent in English also, which would… gaaaahhh.

The German dub is the most hilarious one. EVERYTHING is in German, so when Asuka says they’re switching the language back to Japanese, they’re still speaking in German.

Is your mind blown yet?

Sometimes, things aren’t meant to make sense in anime. This was one of those moments where you had to kick logic to the curb. Because no matter how much you think about it, it will never work itself out. The best solution is to shrug it off, laugh, and continue to enjoy the show.

Enough with my German rambling: SWITCH LANGUAGE BACK TO JAPANESE.
