Couldn’t get this post up yesterday because I was at a family Christmas Party (which doubled as a birthday party for my little sister, which is why I went). Strange seeing my cousins/nieces unwrapping their presents on the 23rd. 😛

Gonna get Day 11 up later today because today is technically Day 11… and I’d be bothered if I broke the flow of these and decide to end it on the 26th.

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Ten Little Busters, and a partridge in a pear tree!

It would be wrong if I didn’t mention “Little Busters! getting an anime” as a highlight of 2012. I was certainly waiting a pretty long time for KyoAni to animated Little Busters! – and I’m sure a lot of people were too. And it finally did get an anime adaptation… but not by KyoAni. Welp.

Despite the retardation from the fandom that revolved around J.C.Staff getting the rights to animate it, thinking of the most biased reasons to hate it (which Wahfuu pointed out in one of his earlier post), the adaptation didn’t even end up bad at all! It’s loose in a few places, but for the most part it’s as faithful as what Kyoto Animation would have done with it. Moreover, it was hinted that a second season after the 26-episode run will be produced, in the same manner as Clannad ~After Story~, which puts most of my worries away about it being rushed.

It was awesome finally seeing the Little Busters! visual novel animated after such a long wait. I love the fact that most of the seiyuu return and reprise their VN roles in the anime. I love it that Riki is voiced by Hocchan (UGGUUUU~) as opposed to having the same seiyuu as Rin. I love the fact that J.C.Staff uses the same opening theme as the visual novel and most of its BGM. Most of all, I love how faithful and spot-on it is, in places where it needs to be the most while still keeping a lot of the lovable and funny bits from the VN. If my beloved Hoshizora no Memoria: Wish Upon A Shooting Star could be promised an adaptation like this, I don’t care if it’s KyoAni, J.C.Staff, P.A. Works, freaking Toei (on second thought, maybe not…), etc… I would have no problems whatsoever.

You heard that, anime companies? I’ve given you an assignment.

Mission Start!

  1. I don’t see why people are complaining it as I do enjoy the anime and so far, it’s pretty close to the visual novel source material. Sure the pacing is off compared to previous adaptations, but it’s difficult to fit everything in an adaptation.

Besides, I’m playing the actual game on my Playstation Vita, which is the Converted Version, which is basically Ecstasy version with 40% more CG and such, although the perfect version has that stuff as well. Playing it in Raw Japanese since I know some Japanese on a lower-intermediate level, but I think the CG is an improvement over Clannad Visual Novel since I last played it a few years ago.

  2. @chikorita157: Agreed on that point. Plus, compared to what visual novels (in general) usually end up becoming when they’re adapted into an anime, the adaptation for Little Busters! is quite the godsend.

Glad you’re enjoying the VN! The art in the Little Busters! VN is definitely an improvement from the art in the Air ~ Clannad VNs. 😛 If you ever get around to playing Rewrite (newest Key VN), the quality of the art for the CGs steps back somewhat due to Itaru Hinoue being the sole artist, but it’s still an improvement over Air ~ Clannad. Just as you’re playing the visual novel for LB! now, I recommend people who watch and enjoy the anime to play the visual novel if they’re ever curious about the minor differences and want to see what the anime omits. 🙂 There’s even a translation patch out there (of the original PC edition) for people who don’t understand Japanese.
