Welcome to Keiongaku ♪ 軽 ♪ 音 ♪ 楽 ♪, an anime/manga blog ran by Johnny Nguyen (a.k.a. Mikoto and many other internet aliases), or rather, me.

The Japanese word in the title, Keiongaku/軽音楽 (meaning “light music”. A more accurate, English meaning of the term that would make more sense would be Japanese pop/rock music. “Light music” usually refers to Britain’s classical music here), was inspired by the anime K-ON! in which the main characters form a club focused on Keiongaku.

Originally called “The Otaku Spot“, I first started this blog on Blogger as an anime fan wishing to share his thoughts on the shows he watched. Slowly getting tired of what Blogger offered me, I imported all my stuff to WordPress.com and continued the blog from there. Eventually, I got a hold of the awesome, free hosting at AnimeBlogger.net, owned by Maestro, the current (and quite possibly permanent) home of this blog. Thanks, Maestro!

As for the transition of The Otaku Spot to Keiongaku ♪ 軽 ♪ 音 ♪ 楽 ♪ for the blog title… Honestly, I felt that the original blog title wasn’t even good in the first place, almost insulting, even. After watching K-ON! (an awesome show, I might add), I decided to change the title to a more inspiring name. Finally. Damn.

I’ve also recruited the help of my friend Steven from time to time. Hopefully, this time he’ll be a permanent addition to my… little family, here.

Why, hello there, dear visitor. I started this blog in hopes of sharing my thoughts on one of my most beloved hobbies: anime and manga. Hopefully, it doesn’t turn into a chore and stays fun. Hopefully. I love all sorts of anime, given that they don’t completely fall into dumb cliches, aren’t cash-ins of a popular overrated genre that does things that were done millions of times before, or fail to do what they’re supposed to do.

My other hobbies and interests include Asian Dramas, drawing, gaming, Korean fashion, horror movies, and just hanging out. You’ll probably see me write about dramas and gaming from time to time. x3

My favorite anime/manga series and movies include the follow: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, FLCL, Mushishi, Yuu☆gi☆ou/The☆Game☆King/Yu-Gi-Oh! (THE MANGA), K-ON!, Lucky☆Star, Mononoke, Fullmetal Alchemist, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, The Girl Who leapt Through Time, Grave of the Fireflies, and many more.

I dislike Naruto with a passion.

Contrary to popular belief, I AM alive. Johnny thought that sending a letter under the guise of Mikoto to meet him in a dark alleyway would be a smart way to kill me. That would have worked if he didn’t use that as a name to write under, too. Alas, I’m alive and I have blackmailed him to give me a spot as a writer here.

I came here intending to review games, but unfortunately I own a 360, and as any Xbox owner knows, if your 360 doesn’t get the RROD (red rings of death) then you probably didn’t take it out of the box yet. So, to make up for this I’m watching anime alongside Johnny/Mikoto/Queerbait in order to be capable of contributing at all here, and apparently watching shows is enjoyable. Go figure, this job is easy.

Outside of the internet my personality can be as hectic as my writing. I can be serious, but prefer not to be, because honestly, who likes to use their intelligence to be useful? I prefer to entertain, and that’s just what I do, with a combination of wit, voice manipulation, and unnecessary obscenities. I can be a bit of a computer geek, but hate programming with a passion. I mean crap, I already know how to write in English, why would I want to learn a programming language? I’ll stick to playing with hardware and electrocuting myself, thank you very much. This of course doesn’t mean I don’t know my way around software, I’m just never doing any coding until Macromedia Flash has a script where I type in [badassfight happens, big explosions and preferably lots of blood] and have things happen for me.

A few favorite anime of mine are Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Detective Conan (Case Closed), Lucky☆Star, K-ON!, and possibly a few more I don’t remember watching.

Some notable video games I’ve played (this is NOWHERE near a complete list, these are just some newer ones) are Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, TES IV : Oblivion, Total War : Medieval 2,  Battlefield : Bad Company, Grand Theft Auto 4, Fable 2, Eternal Sonata, and way too many more for me to want to list.

It should be noted that anything that goes wrong on this site is not my fault, because apparently I’m not allowed to be Overlord.

Fun Fact : I may apparently beat my shit, but at least it’s big enough to beat instead of pluck. ;D

Mainly because it IS me.

… It’s more like a biography of myself more than anything else, going more in-depth of my disdain of all the wierd stuff going on around me. More than what was portrayed in the anime series.
