Dubbies are as simple-minded as subbies

Hm, what’s this now? Did I strike a nerve?

I’m not speaking for everyone who prefers Japanese audio in their Japanese media, but this is how I personally feel about dub fanboys. Fanboys, mind you, not fans. That, or people that think Japanese voice preferences are the qualities of lower lifeforms. I like a handful of dubs myself, so I can’t exactly be classified as a dub-hater, either. Just getting it out there before anyone jumps on me for being a fanboy of subs/raws. Truth is, I also can’t stand people who treat Japanese as the only language that deserves to exist either (it’s an awesome language, mind you, but wording it like that’s just going too far).

However, enough dub fanboys have ranted about such people in recent years, and the way they go about it is getting more and more obnoxious as the years go on. Even more obnoxious than the people who treat Japan as the only country worth existing. I feel the need to step in and give my own thoughts on the matter by picking apart common generalizations regarding people who prefer to watch their anime and play Japanese video games in Japanese. Basically, why these people (who act like it’s a cool thing to call people “weaboos” just because they prefer Japanese voices for certain things) are IDIOTS.

Innovative WAIFU TECHNOLOGY

I just might get one of these, since it’s 4 AM and I’m losing control of my life. No, I think I should make chocolate pudding instead. Yeah, that would be a better idea.

Seriously, foreveralone aside, it’s cute and the general idea of this technology would be helpful for games in the vein of Skies of Arcadia, Tales and Valkyria Chronciles (basically, 3D JRPGs) that go for the whole anime/manga-look. SKIES OF ARCADIA 2 A-GO-GO…? Or a no-no? ):

It would defintiely be awesome for visual novels aesthetically, that’s for sure. Interactivity notwithstanding.

Fanime 2012 Haul (a.k.a. the coolest SWAG ever)

I bought this art-book bundle that came with a free art bag, wall scroll, and cute card of Sena from Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. The art was done by a Chinese circle that also included some Japanese artists. The drawings look really nice! Sadly, I can’t find any more stuff from them on Pixiv, since they’re predominately Chinese. Some of the pages are really ecchi, but hey, it was a nice deal for $25. If only I was able to find an artbook of my number one Kobato, everything would have been perfect!

Fanime Con 2012 Recap, Photos, and Cosplays

Being a local to San Jose, it was kind of strange for my friends and I to reserve a hotel room for this year’s Fanime Convention. But hey, sometimes we all need to get away from the house once in a while, right? ^^;; Steven went along too and was, in fact, the brains behind the planning (and photos). What a good guy!

For many of us, it was the first time attending Fanime for the whole weekend. It certainly was for me. And I was looking forward to the event since the beginning of the year, so when the day of college finals were over and the days of endless amounts of cosplay and anime were about to begin, I was absolutely ecstatic.

I’ll be at Fanime 2012

I apologize for not posting much since the middle of last year and AT ALL this year. I’ve been caught up in college. It’s obvious where I’d place priorities, right? And I’ve been playing more visual novels and reading manga than watching anime during my free time, along with hanging out with people at places that enriches my stomach. Da Capo II and Little Busters for the win! Hard to write about anime when you’re not watching at the same pace as everyone else right?

Starting on May 25, I’ll be going to the 2012 Fanime convention taking place at San Jose’s convention center, which conveniently coincides with the same day I take a summer break from college. I’m expecting to get a good experience from the convention. To atone for my borderline abandonment of this blog, I’ll post pictures and a write-up of my experiences at this year’s Fanime by mooching off any photos my friends take with their cameras.

One thing I’m expecting to see? THE POKEMEN!

Isn’t this sad? Months on hiatus and THIS is what gives me the urge to blog again.

One word that describes what I’m feeling: WHOA. This is seriously one of the most ****ed up things I’ve ever heard of. Yet, it seems almost revolutionary. In a twisted, this-is-so-weird-that-it’s-almost-genius sort of way.

He’s just lucky that Love Plus is supposedly never-ending, or else he’d be horribly depressed at the lack of New Game Plus. As a man, I must say: What. The. Fuck. But as a geek, at least he has good taste in anime girls…

I don’t know what’s more messed up: the fact that he married a video game character… or the fact that his “wife” is having “affairs” with other men in other cartridges? Unless they somehow take her out of the market, in which case, “nice job for screwing over your fellow otaku, douchebag! D=<“

… That poor DS is in for a rude awakening these upcoming years. I mean, that GBA slot looks like it could fit more than a GBA game. That is, assuming everyone is as lucky as I am.

Cosplay Corner – Asuka Langley Soryu (Arisa Mizuhara)

Arisa Mizuhara is honestly one of my favorite Japanese cosplayers. Along with her absolutely adorable appearance, she has really high quality costumes (I believe she makes them herself ) that make her look absolutely kickass during the final product. Her male cosplay is great too, even better compared to real male cosplay (er, no offense to all you angry male cosplayers out there! ^^;;).

She always manages to bring out the essence of the characters she cosplays as in an very excellent way, and that’s the very reason why I just adore seeing any cosplay pictures of her compared to anything else that people take! What’s more amazing is that The Chipmunks learned how to sing in Japanese. Hmm, I’d like to see someone mess with the audio of “Let The Bodies Hit The Floor” (NOT an anime song to those music-illiterate) and see how that comes out as. I’m laughing just thinking about it.

Cosplay at AX 2007

I was checking out some videos of the convention that people posted on the internet since I really didn’t want to go. Driving all the way to Los Angeles, going past some really bad smelling cows from the pastures in the hot summer weather, and arriving half-dead is NOT worth seeing the Haruhi cast. Shoot me if you will. ;;

Here’s a video of cosplay at AX made by the dudes in the credits from YouTube. It’s basically a montage of cosplay on Day 2. As you can see, cosplay’s the usual, ranging from friggin’ wierd (0:30) to very awesome (at 1:12, we see some really cute cosplay of Fallen Angel Flonne. ^^). At 1:00, we see Spider Man and AbaRed… xD lol I believe Comicon is that way. *points waaaay over there*. Kidding, kidding.

In the middle of “friggin’ wierd” and “very awesome”, there’s “very disgusting” I pretty much expect that there are very… well-built men/women cosplaying as very petite loli. I believe there’s at least 6 fat 30-year-old women cosplaying as Flonne and another 30 men, of all ages, dressing in all sorts of drag. You can only see this kind of thing in California… at Anime Expo! …Maybe not.

Of course, nothing’s complete without almost over 50 Haruhi taking over a chunk of space outside, lots of dansu, and doing the Lucky Star dance which over half them didn’t even get right (lol ^^;;).
