I’m always looking for new series to adore. Which makes me even more disappointed when a series fails to impress me in some way, or be even mildly entertaining and memorable. Which is why I always try my hardest to see the positive sides to anything I watch, read, and play.

Recently, I’ve looked over some of my earliest posts on this blog, back when I started this blog around the middle of my junior high school days (2007). My reaction to my earlier days on the internet?

While I definitely appreciate serious stories in media, more often than not, I enjoy a departure from that kind of atmosphere in favor of something that’s more friendly and innocent. Good stories don’t always have to be dark, edgy, and full of drama, after all.

I’ve grown to realize that some of my favorite anime/manga are the type of stories that present themselves as being tied to a particular genre… and then quickly go on to establish themselves as subversions to every trope associated with the genre.

That isn’t to say that all shows that fall into this category are qualified to be counted in my favorites, but twists and surprises like that certainly help an anime stand out.

12 Days of Anime, Day 1: The Return of a Ronin

A little less than seven years in the blogosphere and this is actually my first time taking part in a “12 Days of Anime” post-spree, a project in which bloggers recount memorable moments related to anime either this year or in general. I decided to do it about 2012. I’m pretty excited about it, mostly since I don’t really physically *celebrate* any holidays outside of buying one or two gifts before Christmas Day comes around… and taking a break from school.

I was originally planning on doing this when the REAL 12 Days of Christmas began (which is Christmas Day), but then I saw everyone else start doing it today. So, I figured, I was probably planning on doing it wrong, somehow…

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Just posting to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Spend time with your loved ones, don’t be a recluse and spend all your holidays playing games and watching anime by yourself! Do it with someone or something, just be sure to spend time with your loved ones in one way or another. ^_^

I might have sounded a bit preachy there, but I finally got to see my relatives from overseas in Asia after not being able to see them all my life, after spending my recent years thinking the holidays were a lame excuse to be nice to people just to get presents when you can be nice to people all year ’round. It was a pretty good feeling, and I hope you all experience the same kind of joy this holiday season.

There’s probably not gojng be any substantial posting from me the rest of the year until 2011. Maybe a random post here or there about the series I’ve been trying to watch, and maybe even a New Years post. Other than that, I’m just going to chill for the rest of the year. See ya.
