It’s finally 2015 on my side of the world, guys! I didn’t do a “12 Days of Anime†countdown for the end of 2014, but I’m still up to share some blurbs of my Japanese-related highlights of 2014 all in one post (excluding Fanime, you can see that post here).
Just a quick post to wish you all a Merry Christmas (and a Happy Holiday in general). I’m not going do anything particularly amazing this year for the blog – yes, just like last year, I’m once again not partaking in 12 Days of Anime. Sorry, guys! – I’m just content with staying warm in my house, spending time with my family. Particularly playing video games and watching movies with my siblings.
Which, in all honesty, is heaven after the extremely hectic college finals I had earlier this month, especially with it basically showering and flooding over where I live. Taking an art class sucks in that kind of weather – you have to do everything to keep your precious artwork from getting wet. Like last year, I might post up some end-of-the-year rambles as treat for the readers that put up with this blog’s bullshit.
Anyways, stay safe, and enjoy the rest of the holiday season.
Hope you guys are having a Happy New Years. Lack of time has kept me from posting a “12 Days of Anime” countdown like I did last year, but I’m still up to share some of my anime-related highlights of 2013 all in one post.
I hope all of you guys out there are having a wonderful holiday! I just finished watching the final episode of Kyoukai no Kanata a few days ago, so I’ll be writing my full thoughts on that series later this week. Even though I’m not exactly taking part in what is traditionally considered “12 Days of Anime” this year, I’ll also post some end-of-the-year rambles as a treat to the readers that put up with my nonsense.
As usual, my Christmas wasn’t anything particularly special – I hung out with family and friends (like every year, just on Skype), but I got into the holiday spirit by giving away free starter Pokemon on Pocket Monsters XY that weren’t available to non-Asian countries until the 27th-28th an unknown date on Pokemon Bank (I got them via connections and some randomly on Miracle Trade). I was basically mass-breeding them and sending them to whoever asked for them and to random passerbys on the PSS, in exchange for any Pokemon (I accepted throwaways). I also dumped more than a dozen of each onto Miracle Trade. I know that it made a lot of people happy to see their favorite starters on Amie/Parler (I know I’m enjoying the hell out of playing with my Chikorita and Mijumaru on Amie!), so it made me happy to give them the experience before the actual international Pokemon Bank opening.
セレナ the PokeSanta wishes you a fun holiday with your friends and family!
Have a wonderful holiday break everyone, and stay safe.
Once again, it’s that time to pick out which anime to watch/blog for the next season. Because of my college’s winter quarter, I’ll only do a full blogging season of one anime. The rest of the list is a (rough) representation of what I will watch, but will only do occasional posts about.
I’m always looking for new series to adore. Which makes me even more disappointed when a series fails to impress me in some way, or be even mildly entertaining and memorable. Which is why I always try my hardest to see the positive sides to anything I watch, read, and play.
There are quiiiiiiiite a few series this year that have disappointed me greatly. But we’re not going to talk about them today.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Couldn’t get this post up yesterday because I was at a family Christmas Party (which doubled as a birthday party for my little sister, which is why I went). Strange seeing my cousins/nieces unwrapping their presents on the 23rd. 😛
Gonna get Day 11 up later today because today is technically Day 11… and I’d be bothered if I broke the flow of these and decide to end it on the 26th.
On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Recently, I’ve looked over some of my earliest posts on this blog, back when I started this blog around the middle of my junior high school days (2007). My reaction to my earlier days on the internet?
Funnily enough, I noticed that six months into blogging, the way I expressed myself and my writing in general became a lot less cringe-worthy (at least to my present-self!). Don’t know how that worked out, maybe it was puberty or something.
On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
While I definitely appreciate serious stories in media, more often than not, I enjoy a departure from that kind of atmosphere in favor of something that’s more friendly and innocent. Good stories don’t always have to be dark, edgy, and full of drama, after all.
For me, that remains especially true for anime, manga, and video games.
On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
I’ve grown to realize that some of my favorite anime/manga are the type of stories that present themselves as being tied to a particular genre… and then quickly go on to establish themselves as subversions to every trope associated with the genre.
That isn’t to say that all shows that fall into this category are qualified to be counted in my favorites, but twists and surprises like that certainly help an anime stand out.
On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Yesterday, I talked about how happy and excited I was about the Rurouni Kenshin revival that has been going on this year, and discussed how godly my hype is for the live-action movie.
But let me just clarify, I’m not only going to talk about notable shows/characters this year (best saved for a New Years post!), I’m also going be talking about activities I’ve been doing that are related to anime as well.
And with that, let’s get on with the second day… *kidnaps a bunch of singers*
On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
A little less than seven years in the blogosphere and this is actually my first time taking part in a “12 Days of Anime” post-spree, a project in which bloggers recount memorable moments related to anime either this year or in general. I decided to do it about 2012. I’m pretty excited about it, mostly since I don’t really physically *celebrate* any holidays outside of buying one or two gifts before Christmas Day comes around… and taking a break from school.
I was originally planning on doing this when the REAL 12 Days of Christmas began (which is Christmas Day), but then I saweveryoneelsestart doing it today. So, I figured, I was probably planning on doing it wrong, somehow…
Any-who, let’s get the holiday season started. *calls the Christmas Carolers*
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Just posting to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Spend time with your loved ones, don’t be a recluse and spend all your holidays playing games and watching anime by yourself! Do it with someone or something, just be sure to spend time with your loved ones in one way or another. ^_^
I might have sounded a bit preachy there, but I finally got to see my relatives from overseas in Asia after not being able to see them all my life, after spending my recent years thinking the holidays were a lame excuse to be nice to people just to get presents when you can be nice to people all year ’round. It was a pretty good feeling, and I hope you all experience the same kind of joy this holiday season.
There’s probably not gojng be any substantial posting from me the rest of the year until 2011. Maybe a random post here or there about the series I’ve been trying to watch, and maybe even a New Years post. Other than that, I’m just going to chill for the rest of the year. See ya.
