One of the things I love about anime conventions (or any convention for that matter) are the invasion of cosplayers. It was awesome seeing Downtown San Jose being infested and taken over by cosplayers and my fellow geeks and weebs. People might have been pissed by the traffic we caused and the endless lines we induced at restaurants, but we felt dominant! Made the city as “nigiyaka” (so to say) as San Fransisco is every night. It just made those four days and three nights so fun, and now that everything’s quieted down and returned to normal, I’m having post-con depression. 😛 I want Downtown Weebland again, dammit!
That being said, there were many great cosplays this year. I stopped to take a picture of almost every one of my favorite characters and shows whenever I came across them, but this is basically a list of my very favorite ones during the weekend. To those who didn’t make it into this blog post, I’d like to say that you definitely all made it to my Facebook albums. Just very wonderful memories overall.

So it seems ファンタジーアース ゼムhas now become Fantasy Earth: Zero! Right under my nose, a few months ago even! Yes, I used a simple language change as an analogy to the game being released in America.
I had begun following this game about 2 years ago, back when it was unreachable by me due to Gamespot Japan IP blocking all us would-be foreign players. Discouraged after an entire YEAR without a US release, I had stopped keeping track of the game and have now run across it due to me starting my yearly summer MMORPG stint.
The official release of the game was on May 18th, leaving me feeling silly for being so late on this. However, better late then never, and I figure I’d service the readers of The Otaku Spot with a review of the game! Joining me on this little adventure will be none other than Mikoto, who I haven’t asked yet, but I’m sure he has nothing better to do. No, seriously.
Anywho, before starting any MMORPG, I have to do my fair share of research, which I’ll share with you right here.

Raise your hand if you liked the love story in Final Fantasy X. Don’t be shy, I won’t make fun of you.
Now, if you didn’t like it, then you’ll be excited to know that this next installment in the series (not counting the online game, FF XI) has a much darker, political story. In this game, it’s not about stabbing the man who stole your woman, it’s about stabbing a man who took away your homeland’s freedom.
Of course, nobody like spoilers, so I’ll be talking about the gameplay instead. Continue reading Final Fantasy XII – What Love Story?
