Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT 07

お兄ちゃんだけど愛さえあれば妹が増えても関係ないよねっ (As Long As There’s Love, It Doesn’t Matter If I Get More Sisters, Right?)

Cue Kobato’s facial reaction to the episode title.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT 06

Too much tsun and too little dere

Ordered tsundere and ended up with an overdose of tsun

While I remember the classic tsundere characters smacking their love interests with mallets or other objects that had the potential to give concussions, I don’t think it would work all that well in Haganai’s universe where all those kicks in the leg by Rika literally left Kodaka in tears.

Also, speaking of Maid Cafés:

Culture Japan is awesome.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT 4 & 5

This is a bad development for the trap lovers

I kind of got spoiled by random light novel tidbits, so I totally saw this coming. Nevertheless, the reveal that Yukimura does, in fact, not have a penis was still very amusing.

I mean, just look at Kodaka’s face. Screams “Damn, I can fap to that now.” The fact that all of you probably have that face as well makes it all the more funnier. 😛 Scary part is, I bet some of you are frowning in disappointment out there.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT 03 – King’s Game here we go!

If only she knew we're watching HER

Oh Kobato, if only you knew of the fact that you’re better animated and much more entertaining to watch than the anime you’re watching.

Maybe then you’ll watch yourself?

(Yes, this is the exact same shot they used in the first episode of the recent cour. How dare they not animate Kobato watching TV in 30 different ways?!)

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT 02 ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)

Reminds me of high school

Man, there was so much yaranaika in this episode that I broke down laughing.

Really. They should make an anime about an anime club watching and commentating on homosexual anime all day long. That, my good sirs, would make for a bizarre yet quality watch. Anime studios, why haven’t you made this yet?

Crap, my sides…

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT 01 (First Impressions)

This will certainly melt the ice

That was a really good first episode. A lot of it is familiar content to me, like the bit where Sena, Kodoka, and Yozora try to do things that would make people laugh (and failing horribly at it, which is the funny part), as I’ve read the manga version of it some time ago. I really should start reading the light novels as well – soon, I hope.

The animation was wicked awesome. The quality is up-to-par with the Blu-Rays of the first season and the slightly new style in the art/animation comes off as looking more fluid than the previous 12 episodes. Yozora’s sure sporting the short hair rather nicely in this new animation style.

Haganai’s sense of humor is as funny as I remember it during the first season, and I like it how the episode felt more of a “episode 13” to the original season rather than a bland re-introductory episode for new viewers (if you want to be introduced to the characters properly, watch the first season!). Though the name tags that appeared on the screen served as something helpful for new viewers, I found it a treat that they got right to the point. My side-splitting moment was when Stella gave Kodaka a pack of condoms. Basically goes without saying, “Here to play with the young miss? Use protection!” She’s certainly still the Geoffrey of Haganai.

^ The episode needed more Kobato though. More heterochromia waifu is always good.

Looks like next episode will introduce Maria’s big sister for the first time in animated form. I recall the first time and only time I’ve ever seen her was in that AU Sena manga.

2012/13 Winter Anime (Haganai NEXT!)

Winter Anime Season

Once again, it’s that time to pick out which anime to watch/blog for the next season. Because of my college’s winter quarter, I’ll only do a full blogging season of one anime. The rest of the list is a (rough) representation of what I will watch, but will only do occasional posts about.

Here’s the chart.

Imouto birthday! Favorite little sisters in anime

Aw shit, nigga!

Hold it. Stop. Forget the holidays for a second. It’s my sister’s seventh birthday today. Because of this, I was sort of inspired to make a top-best list of cutest little sister characters, before my family decides to get all festive in celebration of the birth of the most adorkable first grader I know. Of course, I don’t know that many first graders to begin with, but… whatever!

She may be a pain in the ass sometimes, but it’s nice to have her around to brighten up the mood. Which is what little sisters are for in fiction, most of the time. At least in Japanese fiction, where the presence of a little sister character is supposed to be soothing – and these just happened to be my favorite little sister characters in recent times.

Fanime 2012 Haul (a.k.a. the coolest SWAG ever)

Sena Artworks

I bought this art-book bundle that came with a free art bag, wall scroll, and cute card of Sena from Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. The art was done by a Chinese circle that also included some Japanese artists. The drawings look really nice! Sadly, I can’t find any more stuff from them on Pixiv, since they’re predominately Chinese. Some of the pages are really ecchi, but hey, it was a nice deal for $25. If only I was able to find an artbook of my number one Kobato, everything would have been perfect!

Along with the art book, I managed to snatch me some Haruhi Playing Cards.
