Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren 06 – WE MAKE PROGRESS!

IT HAPPENED IT HAPPENED IT REALLY HAPPENED

ARRDGSGDHFSDRADSvdVVHDVS!

Alright, a friend spoiled me that something “awesome and fantastic” would happened in this week’s episode, so I was already kind of expecting something along the lines of a kiss between Yuuta and Rikka just by taking a wild guess. Still, it was quite a pleasant surprise regardless because the large buildup and I wasn’t entirely sure that I was right.

It was nice to see that Rikka is finally opening up and breaking out of her “shy little kid in regards to love” barrier, allowing the relationship to have the first steps of healthy progression. I’ve heard people say “hurrrr Yuuta’s so beta, he hasn’t made a move on Rikka”, but really, I think the problem’s mostly all Rikka’s fault. Yuuta does want the relationship to progress, but he cared about Rikka enough to not force things on her. But now that they finally got past the hand-holding stage and into the more intimate “kiss on the cheek” stage, we may finally be able to see them be more open about being an actual couple, instead of two childish lovebirds that like to hide the fact that they’re a couple.

Sakura clearly loves Summer Festivals!

yo dawg das kawaii

As with many anime series that actually extends to more than 12 episodes per usual, we *have* to get a festival episode. And Cardcaptor Sakura‘s 18th episode is all about our cute protagonist and her family/friends taking part in natsumatsuri (Summer Festival). By extension, that means we also get to see Sakura dawn a cute yukata and take part in summer thrills. It’s a really chill episode, along with a surprisingly chill Clow Card. I guess Clow Reed lost his sense of humor on the day he created it? Who knows. 😛

I pretty much love it whenever Japanese stories do a natsumatsuri segment. Back when Pocket Monsters was a respectable anime series, they had a natsumatsuri episode as well – one of the best filler episodes ever. And if you’ve ever read a visual novel, this setting is a pretty common event for some awkwardly cute romance depending on the route you’re taking. Da Capo II had this, definitely, and I vaguely remember CLANNAD having it too.

2012/13 Winter Anime (Haganai NEXT!)

Winter Anime Season

Once again, it’s that time to pick out which anime to watch/blog for the next season. Because of my college’s winter quarter, I’ll only do a full blogging season of one anime. The rest of the list is a (rough) representation of what I will watch, but will only do occasional posts about.

Here’s the chart.

Da Capo II: Scenario Reviews

Two moe sisters? Which to choose!

Two moe sisters? Oh, which to choose!

Following Wahfuu’s run of Da Capo III, finally clearing all of the scenarios in Da Capo II made a certain someone’s presence in Da Capo III a lot more understandable.

Not surprising with visual novels: whereas I found no interest in continuing the mess of an anime that Da Capo II had, I enjoyed the pacing of the visual novel and what it had to offer. Many of its strong traits include the lighthearted comedy between the characters and its heartfelt climaxes toward the end of each route. Never having read the previous installment, Da Capo, I don’t have much of a comparison between Jun’ichi/Nemu and Yoshiyuki/his “sisters” as central leads, but I found them much more likable than fan impressions of the former pair, despite Yoshiyuki not being the brightest bulb in the room.

Without further ado, let the demonic rebirth of the otherwise miraculous tree commence!
