Kyoukai no Kanata – Final Impressions

I wish I was in a better anime series

Winter Break is over, my next college quarter has started, and of course I’ve also finished watching Kyoukai no Kanata prior to that.

I must say that the conclusion of Kyoukai no Kanata pretty much sealed my opinion of the series – that is to say, it hasn’t changed quite much. This post isn’t going to be as long as my other Final Impressions posts because, honestly, there isn’t quite much to say about the series.

The funny thing about Kyoto Animation

We have to continue our anime, Kyon!

I realize that I may be beating a dead horse, but I’m still (after all of these years) baffled at KyoAni’s business practices. They’re just so bizarre and simply do not match what your typical business-minded person would think of when you say “making a profit from popularity.”

This is seriously one of the ONLY times where I wished a company would milk their popular products, yet they don’t! They just don’t want my money. Do they like money? Because they don’t like mine.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! 02

An imaginative budget

An imaginative budget…?

I have an operation tomorrow morning, so this post won’t be as screenshot heavy or as long, even though this episode had lots of awesome and humorous moments!

So far, the characters of Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! haven’t struck me as unlikable or anything of the sort. Along with the sweet animation sequences that this episode provided, I think Kyoto Animation has something promising here. Though it does make me ache for another Haruhi Suzumiya or Full Metal Panic! (anytime this century, please! :P).

Rikka: totally my favorite character this season – excluding a handful of the Little Busters! cast, of course.

Eyepatch umbrella moe to the MAX

Oh yes, and there probably won’t be any posts for a few days while I’m in bed recovering. By the time I do, my Cardcaptor Sakura Omnibus would have come in and I will be fired up to continue my rewatch-blogging of remastered Cardcaptor Sakura (been focusing too much on new shows, I have literally finished rewatching the precious thing a couple of months ago, but haven’t finished blogging it yet D:).

Hyouka – First Impressions

ki ni narimasu!

Japanese Curious George is moé.

Despite starting Hyouka with the initial bad reactions still stuck in the back of my head, I was surprised that I actually enjoyed it, despite the first episode being rather so-so (being based on a novel rather than a light novel, I was expecting a much larger scale of depth in the vein of a schoolboy Sherlocke Holmes). While I am known to enjoy complete crap sometimes (Mirai Nikki comes to mind, but that’s meant to be crap in a good sense), I often realize it – and I must say, this isn’t crap at all. On the contrary, after the whole lock-mystery with the janitor in the first episode, I rationally adjusted my level of expectation to that of what I expect a light-hearted mystery to be, and I ended up appreciating what the show is trying to be.
