Mirakurun~

One of the things I love about anime conventions (or any convention for that matter) are the invasion of cosplayers. It was awesome seeing Downtown San Jose being infested and taken over by cosplayers and my fellow geeks and weebs. People might have been pissed by the traffic we caused and the endless lines we induced at restaurants, but we felt dominant! Made the city as “nigiyaka” (so to say) as San Fransisco is every night. It just made those four days and three nights so fun, and now that everything’s quieted down and returned to normal, I’m having post-con depression. :P I want Downtown Weebland again, dammit!

That being said, there were many great cosplays this year. I stopped to take a picture of almost every one of my favorite characters and shows whenever I came across them, but this is basically a list of my very favorite ones during the weekend. To those who didn’t make it into this blog post, I’d like to say that you definitely all made it to my Facebook albums. Just very wonderful memories overall.

The funny thing about Kyoto Animation

We have to continue our anime, Kyon!

I realize that I may be beating a dead horse, but I’m still (after all of these years) baffled at KyoAni’s business practices. They’re just so bizarre and simply do not match what your typical business-minded person would think of when you say “making a profit from popularity.”

This is seriously one of the ONLY times where I wished a company would milk their popular products, yet they don’t! They just don’t want my money. Do they like money? Because they don’t like mine.

Da Capo III: Chapter Three! (Common Final!)

SOME WEIRD SHIT

Some weird mind-screwy crap happening here.

Hello beautiful people! We’re here again, for my second and hopefully final time of the Da Capo III common route! Usual disclaimers of not being proficient in Japanese apply, and as much, may miss some details, apologies, etc etc!

You know, despite my crappy understanding of Japanese, it’s plenty fun enough to read regardless. Especially since it seems to be a very simple way of talking without too much slang. Especially since who the hell knows when MangaGamer is going to translate this. Probably not till they get an 18+ version at the very least. And also, it’ll be at the  end of their HUGE line of Nukige, which I could rant about for ages. Seriously. Come on. How much porn is out there? Do we really need more time and effort to translate more of it?

Ugh. I bitched. I didn’t want to, but I did. Alright, moving on to Chapter 3!

I will become a Megane soon enough

August 11, 2010 on 4:57 pm by Mikoto | In Polls, Random | 10 Comments

My Meganekko waifuI just went to get my eyes examined. Turns out my vision is so shitty I’ll have to wear glasses everyday.

If only anime tropes applied to real life; that being the case, I would either choose to be the Spectacled Sadist or Stoic Spectacles within my group of friends (or even better, within the interwebz).

Interesting to note, most of my favorite anime characters that wear glasses don’t even friggin’ need them. Yuki Nagato loses her glasses midway through the original run of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I disagree with Kyon, she looked good with glasses). Jade Curtiss wears his glasses in order to suppress the awesome spell he casted onto his eyes in Tales of the Abyss. I don’t know why Satoshi Hiwatari/Hikari from D•N•Angel wears glasses, but he obviously doesn’t need them.

Glasses seem to either be a completely normal thing, fetish fuel, or a symbol of badassery in the world of anime, manga, and video games. Why can’t my life be like that?! Makes me feel better about my terrible vision. xD Instead of looking at it in a bad way, let’s look at the positives: I’m getting my glasses from a VERY pretty Asian lady in her early 20s (hurray for me being male estrogen brigade jailbait). btw, she smells nice.

Which type of glasses-wearing character do you prefer?

K-ON!! 18

Raping time

The majority vote for Mio as Romeo is just asking for some disturbing speculations about the fantasies of Mio’s fans.

It’s cool that they can see the rather obvious Slap Slap Kiss relationship friendship between Mio and Ritsu, though. Even if I always thought Ritsu would be the man of the house.

Birthday

…So instead of posting a generic wishlist detailing some of the weaboo goods I so desire, I will post the top ten most awesome things that could happen to you on your birthday. Since this is an anime blog, be sure to expect some of the most nonsensical and impossible things you could ever imagine.

(Alright, my birthday technically ended a few hours ago. But hey, this is better than sitting around playing Disgaea and Touhou all night~)

The Stretched Out Wait, Full-screen vs. Widescreen Anime

As a person who likes watching his shows the way they were meant to be seen (therefore despising those anime dubs of the early 90s), I’m pretty picky when it comes to the aspect ratio of my favorite shows.

I’m usually happy with the way my anime is broadcast and/or released on DVD, but as such, I RAGE when a show is broadcast/released with an aspect ratio that butchers the way the show was originally meant to be seen.

K-ON! – 01

The wait for more Lord Haruhi brings along quite a handful of pain towards my faith in Haru-ism, but it’s really just a minor problem when Kyoto Animation keeps on churning out more and more win series to calm my patience down (No, Munto doesn’t count). As a slice-of-life fan, I just can’t get enough of Kyoto Animation making these comedy series with characters doing things that are just win. Of course, with K-ON!, my cohort Steven got an impression that it was the bastard child of Haruhi + Lucky Star, yet good enough to stand out by itself as another one of Kyoto ANimation’s brilliant adaptations. The results? Absolutely fantastic!

<3 Yui.

And I also applaud them for producing an anime which has inspired a new, creative name for the blog, Keiongaku ♪ 軽 ♪ 音 ♪ 楽 ♪. Seriously, The Otaku Spot was a lame name.
